This is a brief summary of Rinpoche’s first visit to Russia in July of this year. According to Rinpoche, this historic trip has been 20 years in the making, starting with the first invitation by Victor, a legendary Russian chö practitioner who lived in Nepal.
During his time in Russia, Rinpoche visited and gave teachings in Moscow, Kunphenling retreat center near Moscow, and St.Petersburg.
In March 2008, due to costs, we ceased our hard copy publication of Gentle Voice under the very able editorships of Dianne Cousens (Shunyata) and Lynne Macready. This has felt like a loss to the Siddhartha’s Intent community and so here we are reissuing Gentle Voice online.
A rich and varied program for Teachings in 2010 is posted on Siddhartha’s Intent website. However not everyone can travel to these Teachings so we intend that Gentle Voice be a bridge between various Dharma activities and your world. Indeed the time may come when travel will be increasingly difficult for many more of us and now is the time to get used to this form of communication and camaraderie. Within these online pages we have the vehicle to connect all generations, with authentic Teachings that can guide our minds through the inevitable changes to our inner and outer world.
Thank you everyone who has contributed to this issue for your enthusiastic support. It would be great if more of you could be involved and so an invitation goes out for future guest editors to come forward with their network. Also to all students, an encouragement to submit articles and ideas for consideration in future issues. A collective display of the wisdom, humour, kindness and diversity that is Siddhartha’s Intent Sangha and beyond.
